MELISSA CAMP, LPC
Leader. Speaker. Trainer. Counselor.
BIO
With over 20 years of experience providing Behavioral Health services, I have gained exposure to a variety of treatment environments. I have led treatment teams for inpatient units and outpatient clinics. Most of my experience has been in Emergency Mental Health services, where I gained training and expertise in assessments, diagnostics, verbal de-escalation, crisis negotiation, and safety planning. My outpatient work has resulted in training and experience with evidence-based practices, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). Populations I most enjoy working with include First Responders, individuals experiencing PTSD, and individuals in psychiatric crisis. I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Since 2010, I have also been afforded opportunities to speak at several events and provide training for a variety of community partners. I have provided Crisis Intervention Team training to numerous local law enforcement groups. I have also presented to groups of varying sizes on topics related to trauma, emergency mental health, DBT, and crisis negotiation. In recent years, I serve as the Clinical Leader for the Post-Critical Incident Seminars for the SC Department of Corrections. In this 3-day seminar, I work with a Corrections Officer peer group to address lasting effects of critical incidents experienced in the line of duty. While Behavioral Health is my first focus, I have found my passion in providing training and presentations to groups of all sizes.
